Gut Wrenching

It’s Sunday! Having a car stolen can be traumatic experience, especially for a classic car enthusiast. That’s exactly what happened to a Tulsa, Oklahoma resident. And this is where it gets difficult. The car that was stolen was a pristine $300,000 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500. The good news is the car was recovered. The bad news is the state of which the car was recovered in.

TULSA, Oklahoma – A stolen $300,000 1967 Shelby Mustang GT has been found.

The rare classic car was stolen from a warehouse near downtown Tulsa three weeks ago.

On January 28, Tulsa Police found the car in a rural part of Okmulgee County.

Tulsa Police auto theft investigators said they received dozens of tips about the stolen car. Those tips led them to a rural property near Mounds.

Osage SkyNews 6 flew over the property where Tulsa Police found the stolen mustang this afternoon.

TPD said the car was covered up by brush and cardboard when they found it. They said most of the car is still in tact but the doors, hood and fenders have been removed.

Police said the car was stolen three weeks ago after someone cut the fence and pried the garage doors off a warehouse where the car was being stored.

Investigators have already arrested Nicholas Chamberlin in connection with the theft. Arrest warrants have been issued for his dad Roy Morris, as well as Toni Morris.

Investigators said they are thankful they are able to get the car back to the owner. They added that they couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.

“I really want to thank the community, seriously, the city of Tulsa and the surrounding area. Because without them, we may not be where we are today. I kid you not we were flooded with tips. There were days where I was receiving a dozen tips a day. If it wasn’t for the good people of Tulsa like I said, we may not be here today and be in the position we are in of recovering this vehicle,” said Lieutenant Chase Calhoun with the Tulsa Police Auto Theft Unit.

Police said they also found a stolen dump truck and another stolen car out of Tulsa at the property today.

They said there could be up to five arrests after this investigation is complete.
