Here we go again…

It’s Monday. Well, this sucks. Illinois is back under a stay-at-home advisory as coronavirus infections surge dramatically. ICU beds in hospitals are once again at a dangerous levels and there aren’t enough doctors and nurses to handle the increasing numbers. And Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Think it’s bad now? Just wait until two weeks after Thanksgiving.

Since the Nascar season is over and the Bears are playing on Monday Night Football, I had to come up with some alternative entertainment for my Sunday afternoon. The girlfriend was making homemade Beef & Barley soup (which was spectacular) and I was gutting another pumpkin for its seeds. I don’t remember how, but we somehow got talking about a 2015 movie called Krampus. I had seen it before but she hadn’t—mainly because she really hates horror movies—but for some reason she wanted to see it. It was free to stream, so I jumped on the chance to put it on. In case you’ve never heard of Krampus, it’s a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as “half-goat, half-demon” who during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved. Surprisingly, she liked it! Sure didn’t see that one coming! Next up, Silent Night Deadly Night! Nice way to kick off the holidays, eh!
