Last of the summer weather…

It’s Wednesday. We had an uncharacteristically warm October day yesterday with temperatures in the upper 80s. It was so nice that I took the day off to take the Vette out with the girlfriend for what could be our last ride of the season. In the days ahead we have more rain with falling temperatures so the car will likely go into storage soon.

But not before enjoying one last day of summer heat! The girlfriend had business in Naperville so we started up there. After driving around looking at some ridiculously huge and expensive homes, we decided to go check out the Morton Arboretum. It’s located in Lisle, Illinois, and is 1,700 areas of public garden, outdoor museum, library, herbarium, hiking trails, roadways for driving and bicycling, a 4-acre interactive children’s garden, a 1-acre maze and the Center for Tree Science. Apparently there are several mischievous large wooden troll sculptures in the park, but we found only two. The one in the photo on the right destroyed a car with a large boulder and is poised to throw another.

We had a great time and plan to return in a couple weeks when the fall colors set in. Summer is definitely over… sniff…
