Disgusting

It’s Thursday. I heard someone call yesterday’s attack by pro-trump supporters on our nation’s Capitol, the darkest day in history for American democracy. After watching the whole thing unfold on live television, I think that’s a fair assessment. This is an example of what can happen when a president is allowed to spread bold face lies, promote conspiracy theories, and baseless accusations—repeatedly—again and again. Truth and facts mean nothing to this president. He has refused to accept the results of the election, despite numerous recounts and failed baseless law suites. Instead he has chosen to spread disinformation to energize his followers. His lies should have consequences. A sitting president rallied his followers to storm the Capitol in hopes of pressuring lawmakers to toss out the election results, ignore the will of the people, and install himself as president for another term. It’s called an insurrection and one person was killed and several injured. It happened and something needs to be done.

Stupidity in abundance

It’s Wednesday. Wow. Anti-maskers stormed a mall and grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday confronting shoppers and employees that were wearing masks. These protesters claim that Covid-19 is a hoax and that it’s their right not to wear a mask. When I see people like this I wish that my girlfriend (a nurse) could walk each one of them through the ICU at her hospital, or really any hospital, to show them the people dying from Covid-19. Introduce them to the overworked doctors, nurses, and techs risking their own lives and the lives of their families to treat the infected. Allow the anti-maskers to speak with patients recovering from Covid-19 and get their thoughts on what they just went through. It’s all there.

And if that doesn’t open the mind of an anti-masker, well then you know what they say about stupid… you can’t fix it.

First Beaver Sighting of the New Year!

It’s Tuesday. We have our first beaver sighting for 2021! This one comes from Jon, a reader in Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Apparently the good folks up there in the Dairy State appreciate a bit of a creamy kick in their Beaver Brand horseradish sauce. And really, when it comes down to it, who doesn’t!

There is was the first beaver sighting of 2021 in the wild and a long way from home at 6:00 in the morning, now I face that shelf every morning and that was not there yesterday, that’s gotta be a sign that this year will be better than the last right?
