It’s Monday. It was a typical Illinois winter weekend with both days being mostly chilly and gloomy. With the exception of running some errands Saturday afternoon, we  took it easy indoors. We saw the new Netflix movie, The Midnight Sky, which was pretty average. On Sunday the girlfriend made a fantastic pot of Sausage & Lentil soup. She also made a bunch of chicken wings that I happily enjoyed with BBQ sauce. She really enjoys cooking and baking and she’s very good at both. Why I’m not 300 pounds I have no idea.

Then there was the Bears game against the Saints on Sunday afternoon. Again, the first half was completely different than the second. The Bears kept up the fight throughout the first half and by the second everything changed and they got trampled. This is pretty much how the whole season has been. I’ll be glad when Nascar kicks off the preseason on February 9th!

I’m very pleased to see the FBI has been successfully identifying, capturing, and charging the Pro-Trump supporters involved in the insurrection. I sincerely hope they don’t stop until they capture each and every one involved. Also, I saw that Fox News would like you to believe that Antifa was responsible for the attack. That’s already been widely debunked by a variety of sources. One of my favorites is FactCheck.org here.

It’s Sunday! The plan is to stay home and take it easy today. The Bears don’t play the Saints until later this afternoon, so that’s a perfect opportunity to make some homemade soup. It will be a sausage/lentil soup that is based on Carrabba’s Italian Grill’s recipe. It’s one of our favorites that we make several times throughout the winter. It’s hearty, warms the bones, and goes down so nicely on cold days! I’ll let ya know how it turns out.

The video featured today is something that caught my eye a few days ago. Delivery drivers for UPS & FedEx have it pretty tough, especially around the holidays and even more so because of the pandemic. Every year we’re inundated with videos of the bad ones terribly mishandling or purposely destroying packages. So, I though it would be cool to feature one of the overwhelmingly majority of good drivers that take their job seriously and go above and beyond. Enjoy.

Last week we had an ice storm. My driveway was smooth, wet ice… super slippery. I heard the UPS truck pull up so I opened the garage and told him to just leave the package at the sidewalk and I’d figure out a way to get it, but he insisted on getting it to me. Above and beyond… this guy is awesome. -Walt

 
It’s Saturday! With all the political shit going on lately, I thought we could all use a bit of a diversion now that the weekend has arrived.
