Dammit Canada!

It’s Thursday. Cough*Choke*Gag! For the past few days Chicago has had the worst air quality on the planet. Why? Canadian wildfires, that’s why. The jet stream has pulled the smoke down from Canada and into the United States. At the moment it has reached as far down as Georgia and Florida. In the Chicagoland area people have been instructed to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. Especially vulnerable are those with raspatory issues. I was out in it most of the day yesterday and it didn’t bother me. What did bother me is the effect it has on our temperature. The haze is blocking out the sun and taking the heat out of our summer. So, Canadians—put out those damn fires. If I remember correctly, Trump talked about resolving California’s wildfires by raking up all those dry leaves. How about we send his fat ass up to Canada with a rake? Please…!

Car Show Goodness!

It’s Wednesday. I finally managed to get out to a couple car shows recently and I have a few of my favorites to share with all of you. These come from Babe’s Hot Dogs in Joliet, Illinois. They hold their car show every Wednesday night throughout the summer. They attract a good variety of old, new, and just about everything in between. Get out there and enjoy the hot dogs and take in the show!

Reader’s Rides

It’s Tuesday. I love it when my readers send in photos of their toys and that’s exactly what I have for today. Featured today is a 1997 Chevrolet ½ ton pickup owned by Darryl. It’s a damn nice looking truck that’s still rolling with its original engine and 190,000 miles on the clock. The paint is good and the Cragar SS wheels give it a classic look. Very cool, thanks for sharing the photos!

Good day, My Lounge buddy has a few older GMC pickups he thought you would be interested in for your many fans.

Maybe I’ll get him to share the rest. This is his story.

I bought this 97 Chevy ½ ton , all paint and body original in 2006 from a government sale with 261,00kms (161,000 miles) and only 1 driver drove it until the sale.

I put a new front end under it at 280,000kms (173,000 miles) and bucket seats. It now has 307,000kms (190,000 miles) on the V6 4.3L original engine, transmission and differential. She still rides and drives like new and the A/C still works great.

Thanks for sharing Darryl/Andy
