It’s Friday! The July 4th holiday is upon us, and, well, it’s kinda hard to get excited considering the lack of options due to the pandemic. Here in Illinois we’re still in decline amid sixteen other states that are either surging or still trending upward. Our restaurants are open but can offer only limited seating indoors but plenty outdoors. Even though you can eat inside, most opt for dining outdoors. It’s safer and since it’s summer, why not?
Florida, Arizona, and Texas are currently among the highest in outbreaks by far. I love Florida but their Governor Ron DeSantis really put his foot in his mouth boasting on camera last month about what great shape Florida was in and how wrong the media’s predictions were. Now Florida is seeing over 10,000 cases in a 24 hour period. Too little, too late. While DeSantis eats crow, Florida residents pay the price. Vote him out.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to a racing doubleheader at Indy this weekend. For the first time ever, NASCAR and IndyCar will run races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the same weekend. That’ll definitely be cool.
