Goodness of the Automotive Kind

It’s Friday! Many states are relaxing their stay-at-home orders now that infection rates are beginning to trend downward in the US. Unfortunately, some states such as North Dakota, Alabama, and Arkansas are still showing increases but that’s not likely to make any difference, especially with this being Memorial Day weekend. If you would like to see a helpful map of all 50 states and how they’re doing, check out this website for a quick visual.

And keep in mind that the virus hasn’t magically disappeared because businesses are reopening. Businesses are reopening due to intense economic pressure which makes this weekend a huge test— and, like it or not, we’re all going to be the test subjects.

Sadly, there will be no Indy 500 this weekend. It has been rescheduled for August 23rd but it’s uncertain if that date will stick. Thankfully, there will be stock car action now that Nascar has proven that they can continue racing safely with several races already completed. That clears the way for Nascar’s longest annual race, the Coca-Cola 600, this Sunday night at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Really looking forward to that.

Okay, the video featured today is an episode of Ridiculous Rides showcasing custom car builder Paul Bacon’s most ambitious project yet. He calls it The Automatron and says that it’s a steampunk hot rod that was inspired by a horse-drawn carriage. It’s not all about looks, though. The Automatron packs a wicked 3.5L supercharged V8 engine with a variety of added parts including a switch gear from a Lancaster Bomber and the front wheels of an Austin 7. It took over 4 years to build and has achieved national critical acclaim for its distinctive design. For a closer look, check out the video above!

Alright, it’s Friday so the babes & jokes will be doubled today. Enjoy!
