NYE

It’s Tuesday. Believe it or not, it’s the final day of 2019. When I think about this past year I can say that it was fairly good to me. Work was steady and I’m still with my girlfriend of 19 years. We managed to fit in an additional vacation out to the east coast over the summer where we took in the sights and enjoyed lobster every day. We also picked up an addition to our small family and named her Abby. She’s an energetic sheepdog/poodle mix that my girlfriend has wanted her entire life. She’s already brightened our lives in so many ways.

On the other hand, the absolute worst was losing a few friends to cancer, all of which were too young. The older I get the more I realize that you have to take the good with the bad, no matter how unfair.

I hope everyone has a good time tonight. If you have plans to go out and party tonight, please make arrangements so you don’t have to drive. It’s a simple choice that could make a big difference in your life and the lives of others.

Blah.

It’s Monday. Blah. I hate this time of year. Here in Illinois the weather shifts between rain, snow, and cloudy gray. It’s often not the rain or the snow that bothers me most, but the gray dismal overcast that goes on for days at a time. I know, I’ve probably got some sort of seasonal affective disorder. They talk about light therapy helping ease the symptoms but the only real solution for me is getting out of here at the end of February. Two months of this sucks.

It’s going to be another mixed up week with New Year’s Day falling right in the middle of the week on a Wednesday. I know I’m getting old because we have no plans for NYE and I’m totally okay with it. If we do anything it’ll be a nice dinner somewhere but certainly no big-ass parties.

Caught the Bears last game of the season yesterday afternoon and they actually showed some signs of life up against the Vikings. Not only did they win, but they also came pretty damn close to losing it. Time to pack  it up, go home, and start talking about how great they’ll be next season.

Star Wars

It’s Sunday! Went out last night with the girlfriend and a friend to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We saw it in IMAX and all three of us really liked it. It wraps up the Skywalker saga nicely with plenty of action, humor, and heart. If you’re a Star Wars fan then you have to see it while it’s on the big screen—especially in IMAX!

And speaking of Star Wars, this new fan-made film called KENOBI recently surfaced and it’s exceptionally good. If you have a few spare minutes, give it a look.
